Charles Arthur Floyd, known by such names as "Pretty Boy Floyd" "Choctah" or "Choc", frequented these parts, purportedly to see a notable local doctor who is surmised by some to have discretely treated the outlaw element. Floyd robbed the bank of nearby boom town Shamrock, and was seen casing the Depew Bank from the Post Office, though he never robbed it.

Stacy Howard

Local residents will tell you that Depew was once known as "Stacy's Town", and indeed Mr. Howard was many things to the town - City Clerk, Law Enforcement, Fire Marshall, business owner. Town lore has it that as a very young man, Stacy, as he is referred to locally, took a twist to the outlaw path and robbed a bank for which he was sentenced time in Leavenworth. While there, the tale has it he saved the Warden during a prison uprising. The grateful Warden pardoned Stacy and upon his return to Depew, he became Depew's law enforcement officer for the rest of his life and died at the dawning of the new millenium.
